Response of turkey pectoralis major muscle satellite cells to hot and cold thermal stress: Effect of growth selection on satellite cell proliferation and differentiation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Satellite cell (SCs), the main progenitors for post-hatch poultry muscle growth, has maximal mitotic activity and sensitivity to temperature during first week after hatch. The objective of present study was determine effect hot cold temperatures on proliferation differentiation SCs from pectoralis major (P. major) fast-growing 1-week-old Nicholas commercial (NC) turkeys compared Randombred Control Line 2 (RBC2) representing 1966. Three regimens were used: at 38 °C (control) with 43° or 33 °C; both 43°, 38°, 33°C. increased 43 decreased in lines. When a thermal challenge administered proliferation, greater stimulatory suppressive effects observed if applied only Expression myoblast determination protein 1 showed higher increase NC line RBC2 °C. Increased myogenin expression all treatment groups but throughout differentiation. Cold suppressed independent line. These results suggest turkey P. are more sensitive environmental growth-selected stress turkeys.

The effect of temperature on proliferation and differentiation of chicken skeletal muscle satellite cells isolated from different muscle types

Skeletal muscle satellite cells are a muscle stem cell population that mediate posthatch muscle growth and repair. Satellite cells respond differentially to environmental stimuli based upon their fiber-type of origin. The objective of this study was to determine how temperatures below and above the in vitro control of 38°C affected the proliferation and differentiation of satellite cells isolat...

Response of Turkey Muscle Satellite Cells to Thermal Challenge. II. Transcriptome Effects in Differentiating Cells

Background: Exposure of poultry to extreme temperatures during the critical period of post-hatch growth can seriously affect muscle development and thus compromise subsequent meat quality. This study was designed to characterize transcriptional changes induced in turkey muscle satellite cells by thermal challenge during differentiation. Our goal is to better define how thermal stress alters bre...

The effect of insulin-like growth factor analogs on turkey satellite cell and embryonic myoblast proliferation.

The effects of several human and chicken insulin-like growth factor (IGF) analogs on turkey satellite cell and embryonic myoblast proliferation were examined in serum-free medium. Similar rates of proliferation were observed when human or chicken IGF-I or IGF-II (13.1 nM) was administered to satellite cells. The biopotency of two analogs, which were modified to prevent interaction with IGF-bind...
